Arvoredo Island Snorkeling & Diving
Just a 45-minute boat ride from the lodge, the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve unveils an extraordinary underwater landscape, with vibrant reefs and rich marine life, including sea turtles, dolphins, rays, octopuses, seahorses, and dozens of tropical fish species. Located at the meeting point of two ocean currents: the warm Brazil Current from Africa and the cold Malvinas Current from the South Pole, the island harbors one of the greatest biodiversity in the South Atlantic. It has been a fully protected conservation area since 1990.
Anhatomirim & Ratones Fortresses
Explore Brazil’s colonial past with a visit to Fortaleza de Santa Cruz de Anhatomirim and Fortaleza de Santo Antônio de Ratones, two 18th-century fortresses built as part of a strategic defense system against Spanish incursions. Anhatomirim, the largest, later served as a prison during the Federalist Revolution, while Ratones played a supporting defensive role guarding secondary access to the bay.
