Awasi, comes from the quechua word "wasi", that means "house".

2007

How it's started

In 2007, Awasi Atacama was born – the first of five very different, unique, intimate and exclusive lodges.
At Awasi time and space are yours to own. Our lodges are designed to feel like the home of an old friend guiding you through stunning landscapes, native flavors and hidden gems. It’s a fusion of friendship, admiration for the place, and personal hospitality that creates a genuine connection with each guest.

2015

New destinations same spirit

Between 2013 and 2018, Awasi expanded to include lodges in Patagonia and Iguazú, deepening its commitment to tailor-made explorations designed to create memorable, personal and authentic experiences. With each new opening, we fostered a symbiotic relationship with local communities by providing employment opportunities and creating platforms that support their growth and showcase their talents.

2025

New roots in South America

As part of our journey to reach new corners of the continent and offer unique experiences, we welcomed Awasi Santa Catarina (2024) in Southern Brazil, and Awasi Mendoza (2025), in Western Argentina, into the Awasi family.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at Awasi

What does inclusion mean to you?

One of our latest initiatives is an integration project with the Instituto Esperanza, an educational centre for children and teenagers with disabilities in Puerto Iguazú (10 minutes from Awasi Iguazú).

Internship at Awasi Atacama and Santa Catarina

We work together with the local community, offering internships and first work experience for students and hiring those who fit the role once they finish their studies. Interns at Awasi Atacama and Awasi Santa Catarina are trained in several different areas of the hotel for a couple of months.

Educational workshops in Patagonia’s rural schools

As we are located in an isolated area, our Excursions Team conducts workshops with low-income rural schools from the surrounding community, providing kids and teenagers with tools to enter tourism-oriented industries. The workshops are focused on nature preservation, camping, wilderness observation, survival skills and more.

Working together with Guarani community

We work together with the local Guarani community offering artistic workshops in their local school and collaborating with the direct sale of their handcrafts. Members of the community also give educational talks or workshops at Awasi Iguazu, something that is greatly enjoyed by our guests and staff.
