Bordering Torres del Paine National Park, the Awasi Patagonia Private Reserve protects 7,000 acres of private land where Patagonian steppe, pre-Andean scrub and Magellanic forest meet. This unique transition between ecosystems creates an environment of exceptional biodiversity and provides an important refuge for wildlife moving beyond the boundaries of the national park.
Managed by our team, the reserve offers guests exclusive access to a protected landscape that remains largely untouched while supporting ongoing conservation efforts.
Into Puma Territory
As Patagonia’s top predator, the puma plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem. Through strategically placed camera traps, Awasi monitors puma movements and habits, gaining insight into their populations while ensuring minimal disturbance. After years of monitoring, we have developed a deeper understanding of puma populations, their patterns and behavior.
Puma-Tracking Exploration
Led by your private guide, set out on a Puma Tracking experience aboard your INEOS Grenadier.
Learn to identify signs of puma activity through tracks, markings and camera trap observations, including identified individuals and movement patterns. Discover the world of one of Patagonia’s most elusive predators, with the possibility of witnessing one in the wild.
Contributing to Conservation
Guests may choose to contribute to the long-term protection of the Awasi Patagonia Private Reserve through a Conservation Contribution of USD 150 per person, per stay.
This contribution supports wildlife monitoring, camera trap research, responsible puma tracking, habitat preservation and long-term scientific studies that help protect the ecosystem.
As part of this commitment, guests can experience Puma Tracking, where expert guides teach you to identify tracks and signs of puma activity, with the chance to encounter one of Patagonia’s most elusive species.
Each year, a conservation report reveals what the contribution has made possible, including the projects supported and the impact achieved within the reserve.
The conservation initiative is carried out by Awasi Patagonia, with the support of Fundación Faro Verde, whose work contributes to environmental conservation and sustainable initiatives.
