Prior to arrival, guests complete a questionnaire outlining interests, preferences, and physical considerations. Based on this information, daily excursions are planned together with your private guide and adjusted throughout the stay according to weather and guest preferences.

Wildlife commonly spotted in the area includes guanacos, condors, foxes, and a wide variety of birdlife. Pumas inhabit the region and may occasionally be seen.

Seasons & Climate

Yes. While many excursions are available throughout the operating season, some experiences are naturally seasonal. Birdwatching, wildflower displays, and sheep shearing vary depending on the time of year, and daily weather conditions may also influence which excursions are recommended.

We recommend packing layered clothing, including quick-drying base layers, insulating mid-layers, and breathable, water-repellent outerwear. Gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, sturdy hiking shoes, and any personal medication are also essential. A reusable water bottle is provided by Awasi upon arrival.

Awasi Patagonia does not operate during the winter months. The lodge is seasonal due to weather conditions and typically closes from April to October.

Patagonian weather is highly changeable and can vary within a single day. In spring (October to December), temperatures generally range from around 2°C to 18°C. Summer (January to March) brings milder conditions, with temperatures between approximately 5°C and 23°C, though strong winds are common. In autumn (mid-March to mid-June), temperatures drop, typically ranging from 0°C to 10°C. Dressing in layers is essential throughout the season.

The best time to visit is during Awasi Patagonia’s operating season, from October to April. Each period offers a different perspective of Patagonia, from spring blooms and birdlife to summer’s long days and autumn’s dramatic colours.
