Protecting the Pumas of Patagonia
Expanding the Wild: Our Private Reserve
Situated on the edge of Torres del Paine National Park, Awasi Patagonia protects 4,000 hectares of private land, creating additional territory for wildlife to roam beyond the park’s boundaries. This reserve provides a safe habitat for pumas, guanacos, condors and other native species.
Puma Monitoring and Conservation
A network of strategically placed trap cameras tracks puma movement and activity, providing insight into their patterns while ensuring minimal disturbance. This ongoing monitoring supports a deeper understanding of both their behaviour and local populations.
Puma-Spotting Excursion
Accompanied by a private guide, guests explore carefully selected areas where puma activity is most frequent. Tracks, movement signs and subtle traces are revealed along the way, indicating their presence. Excursions unfold at a flexible pace, adapting to wildlife activity and guest interest, allowing time for observation and photography. Sightings are not guaranteed, reflecting the puma’s naturally elusive nature.
