Atacama is slowly becoming a favourite honeymoon destination. It may still not be among the world’s most stereotypical “love” destinations, but adventurers and romantics alike have discovered an oasis in this desert, and particularly in Awasi.

We have always been delighted to receive honeymooners. The flexibility of having a private guide, the intimacy of having very few rooms and the dedicated, personalized service is a combination that will ensure this most special and unique celebratory holiday will be among the best of your lives.

Few rooms mean fewer people. With only 10 Rooms, Awasi Atacama puts intimacy and privacy as a priority.

So, it is wonderful to hear about #TheAwasiExperience from honeymooners themselves. As such, we would like to share this very detailed review from a Chicago couple who spent their honeymoon at Awasi Atacama in June 2016.

“We stayed at Awasi during our honeymoon and loved it. Our favourite aspects of Awasi are below:

1. Customized activities with your own guide – We met with Alejandro, our guide, the first day and based on our interests, he customized our itinerary. We biked and did a lot of hiking. Our favourites included biking to the Lago Cejar where we saw a flamingo and floated in a lake with higher salinity than the Dead Sea and a hike through the Rio Grande canyon. All of our excursions were fantastic and we would highly recommend Alejandro who was very knowledgeable about local plants and animals as well as the history of Atacama. The Atacama Desert is a beautiful and unique place.

Don’t wait for anyone, don’t let anyone rush you: it doesn’t get more personalized than having a private guide for all excursions.

2. Incredible food – We’ve had the opportunity to dine at some incredible restaurants and this ranks highly. Dinner begins with a creative amuse bouche and is followed by appetizer, main, dessert, and daily truffle. All courses are paired with a different Chilean wine. We had 5 dinners and were blown away by every one. We were also impressed by the homemade bread (each day there was a different type of roll), and the chef’s ability to incorporate local ingredients such as chanar and rica rica (make sure to try the chanar crème brulee!).

Relax! At Awasi things go at your own pace.

3. Friendly Service – The entire staff was very welcoming and go out of their way to make your vacation fantastic. On our last night, they planned a special dinner for us in honour of our honeymoon and accommodated a last minute request for a massage and to go on a star gazing excursion. We enjoyed chatting with the bar tender Felipe who made excellent cocktails and had great wine pairing recommendations.

One suggestion – if you plan to hike, bring hiking boots!”

There’s just one thing we would add: make sure you tell us your personal requirements and preferences when making the booking. That way we can make sure your experience is dappled with added touches and surprises…
