When’s the one time you’re looking to spend your holiday just with your other half? Your honeymoon…

The unique Awasi concept of giving a private guide and 4WD to each room appeals to many couples when they are planning their post-wedding getaway.

At least, that was the case for Chilean photographer, Roberto Hernandez, and his British wife, Katy Chester, as they headed to the Atlantic Rainforest, Northern Argentina, on their honeymoon.

Here is a photo diary of their stay at Awasi Iguazu – all photos were taken by Roberto Hernandez.

“We saw so much wildlife,” says Katy. “We did a huge range of activities and enjoyed the hotel so much (and ate VERY well).”

You can listen to the sounds of the jungle here.

“In my opinion we won the lottery with our guide and driver – but I’m sure everyone says the same 🙂 Nieves, our guide, truly made our stay: knowledgable, personable, intuitive, she managed to measure our rhythm straight away and created the perfect itinerary of excursions for us. Absolutely seamless.”

“Fer (Pica) was our driver and he was a huge support. For us, not knowing the region, it was such a bonus having Fer, a local person, with us. He knew exactly where to stop to see wildlife, he had an incredible capacity to spot animals or birds at a distance, or hear their sounds and identify them. The combination of Nieves and Fer: unbeatable.”

“The villas are just incredible, every single detail has been thought of.”

“The barmen (Manu and Pepe) were so friendly and always so happy to create a special cocktail for us or recommend a particular wine.”

At Awasi Iguazu we have just 14 luxury villas, each one with a private plunge pool. The main lodge spreads out from the heart of our hotel, the bar. Alongside sits our Relais & Chateaux restaurant where Chef Aarón Castillo Telleria serves  up seasonal and imaginative dishes using local ingredients. Giving a personalised experience is what our staff excels at, so your honeymoon (or holiday) will be designed around your interest and set to your pace.
