Since defining the concept of our first hotel, Awasi Atacama – our Relais & Chateaux lodge in Northern Chile – back in 2007, we have always valued privacy for our guests. Travel is such a precious time so why share it with anyone other than your loved ones?

This sentiment sits at the core of the Awasi concept and resulted in the team deciding to dedicate a private guide and 4×4 vehicle to each and every room. This is your free time, we understand that you want to make the absolute most of it and that means taking the reins and creating an experience based around your wishes and requirements.

Awasi guests explore the Atacama Desert with their private guide and 4WD.

Roll on 2020 and the value of one’s free time and the ability to spend it in a far-flung place is more precious than ever. “Booking a full buyout of an entire hotel is not a new thing but in this pandemic summer of social distance there has never been a better time,” – writes journalist Katie Kelly Bell in Forbes.

Writing to the team during the research of her article, Katie said “Awasi is top of my list for post-pandemic travel!” and true enough she placed our Patagonia lodge at the top of the list in her Forbes article:

Awasi Patagonia: Remote, rare and special, this Relais & Chateaux property on the edge of the Patagonian steppe, snug in the embrace of the Andes offers only eagles, wide-winged condors and pumas for company. Each of the only 14 villas comes with a private guide and four-wheel drive vehicle, so this buyout leaves open the opportunity to let each guest explore in their own way. Everything from furnishings to cuisine is locally inspired, and with a ratio of eight staff to each room, luxury is understood. The two other Awasi locations (Atacama and Iguazu) are also available for buyouts, the only challenge will be finding dates that have not yet been booked so plan ahead.”

Awasi Patagonia is located within a 200-hectare reserve of native “lenga” woodland.
