Those of us with children are used to telling our little ones “see you after work” but do our offpsring know what our place of work is actually like? As a child, my husband used to think his father worked at the train station. Logical, when you think he said goodbye each morning saying “I’m off to the station”. So, to make sure our team’s children can picture their place of work, we decided to have a family day at Awasi Atacama

Each member of staff with dependents was offered to bring them to spend the day at Awasi Atacama. They met the team, including the managers, they visited the suites and communal areas; and since it was just after Easter we arranged a treasure hunt all around the hotel grounds with prizes of homemade chocolate eggs prepared specially by our Relais & Chateaux pastry chef and team.

Next, they baked biscuits in the shape of flamingos, cacti and fish that can be found in the Atacama Desert, before enjoying afternoon tea in the restaurant with their parents and the other families.

So, what did they think of their parents “office”? One thing that a couple of the little visitors commented on were the outdoor showers in the sun patios. “That is very strange,” they commented, “you might get very cold showering outside!”

Luckily, the outdoor showers are one of three options for bathing in the 12 private suites at Awasi Atacama, our boutique Relais & Chateaux lodge in Northern Chile. There are also bath tubs and indoor showers in the spacious bathroom inside.
