Awasi Iguazú has been hailed as one of the top hotels in South America. Each one of the nine hotels appearing in a recent feature by Fodor’s has been handpicked for having a certain ‘wow’ factor. And each, including Awasi Iguazú, can be “defined by reinvention and imagination”.

Fodor’s describes Awasi – a Relais & Chateaux property – as a “gorgeous jungle lodge” consisting of 14 private villas, located 20 minutes from the Iguazú Falls – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Comfort without compromise

Writer Nikki Vargas, who recently stayed with us, says Awasi ingeniously juxtaposes “a high level of comfort and luxury” with a clear concern for the natural environment, each villa delivering sustainability alongside state of the art design.

“Guests’ privacy and serenity” is a top priority for the team at Awasi and each villa comes complete with a private terrace and plunge pool. The light and spacious villa interiors are resplendent in rustic wood and decorated in a pleasing palette of neutral tones.

“Within its aesthetics, Awasi Iguazú gives a nod to both the surrounding nature and the Indigenous Guarani people…”

The vast villa windows enable guests to feel fully immersed in their jungle surroundings, while woven baskets and traditional textiles produced by the Guarani people are displayed throughout the villas.

Gastronomic excellence

The main lodge is moments from the 14 villas and features an indoor bar offering perfectly shaken cocktails and excellent wines, including of course, the mandatory Malbec. Guests can dine in splendour on the spacious outdoor terrace.

Fodor’s deservedly awards Awasi top marks for its exceptional cuisine, describing it as “worthy of any Michelin-starred restaurant”. The menu, they write, burgeons with “artistically presented dishes” using fresh local ingredients, producing flavours that are “creative and sophisticated”.

‘Impeccable service’

The Awasi team takes service to another level, with an “attention to detail you’ll be hard-pressed to find at other hotels”, somehow instinctively predicting your needs before you know them yourself.

Bespoke Tours

Awasi provides guests with a dedicated private guide for the duration of their stay. Guides are experts on the local surroundings and its diverse flora and fauna and can arrange bespoke excursions tailored to your requirements. The main attraction for visitors to Iguazú remains the waterfalls within Iguazú National Park and the advantage of having a private guide, of course, is that you can beat the crowds as you are whisked off on a sunrise tour.
