Zack B travelled to the lodge from New York City in February 2023, he says: ‘Highlights: The people. The staff really make the experience as they cultivate the relaxing, warm and attentive environment. Special shout-out to Brian, Carlos, Steffi, Fernando and Alvaro who made our stay perfect and were all so wonderful to interact with daily. Additionally, we adored our guide and driver, Mauricio and Silvia, respectively.’

Gastronomy, using the finest and freshest local ingredients

According to Chef Juan Pablo Mardones, the Awasi recipe is as follows: ‘For us, food goes hand-in-hand with the environment. Our aim is to take a little bit of the desert and present it on our guests’ plates.’

Private excursions to the hidden corners of the Atacama Desert

Accompanied by a private guide in a 4WD vehicle, there are opportunities to explore dramatic valleys, canyons and geysers and to become acquainted with the extensive local wildlife.

Anna Sun visited the lodge in March 2023. She writes: ‘What really separated Awasi apart are the excursions we do every day. We chose a lot of hiking activities during our stay here and our guide, Cristobal, is so patient and encouraging. He is very professional when we are out hiking, and even taught us a lot of new techniques. We learned a lot about cool geological features about the Atacama desert with him, and loved his taste of music!’
