As a proud member of Relais & Châteaux, Awasi embodies a deep commitment to sustainability, cultural preservation, and responsible hospitality.
In partnership with UNESCO, Relais & Châteaux has outlined 12 actionable commitments to address urgent global challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequality.

Relais & Chateaux acknowledges that sustainability intentions must become tangible, clear, and measurable actions. With that in mind, the 12 commitments are designed to pursue three major missions:
1. Preserve the world’s hospitality and culinary traditions
2. Contribute to the protection and development of biodiversity
3. Take daily action for a more humane world
At Awasi, these principles resonate through every aspect of our operations.

Preserving Local Traditions
Our lodges, whether in Iguazú, Atacama, or Patagonia, reflect local architecture, indigenous crafts, and ancestral culinary practices, aligning with UNESCO’s efforts to safeguard intangible cultural heritage.
Individual commitments in this area include focusing on promoting the richness of the many different hospitality cultures around the world, supporting interactions with local communities, producers and suppliers, and engaging with local stakeholders to foment an appreciation for the essential roles that the environment, food and cuisine play in supporting our health and the health of the planet.

Awasi Iguazu chefs have pioneered the use of jejya in their cooking. Growing jejya is a method of preserving the rainforest.
Protecting Biodiversity
Situated in areas of exceptional natural beauty, Awasi partners with conservation projects to protect ecosystems like the Atlantic Rainforest. By sourcing ingredients sustainably and promoting regenerative agriculture, our chefs create cuisine that celebrates the biodiversity of each region.
Commitments encourage, amongst others, the support of local efforts to protect biodiversity in both our terrestrial and marine environments, and developing regenerative agriculture efforts in partnership with local authorities and NGOs.

Protecting the unique and individual beauty of each of the ecosystems in which the Awasi hotels are situated is of the utmost importance
Promoting Sustainable Practices
Awasi embraces ambitious goals, including carbon-neutral operations, plastic reduction, and waste management, echoing Relais & Châteaux’s 2040 sustainability objectives.
The Awasi Artist Immersion programme harnesses the power of art to communicate effectively about environmental issues. This creative approach allows people to connect on a deeper, emotional level to messages about sustainability.
