After many years, our dear Resident Manager Victoria Lorenzo has left the Awasi Family to have her second baby, and so we are welcoming a new manager at Awasi Atacama.

Bárbara Pettigrew was born in Argentinian Patagonia in 1974. She studied Hotel Administration in Buenos Aires, and between 2007 and 2010 lived in New Zealand and Spain where she did a Masters at the “Escuela de Hostelería” in Seville.

“One of my main inspirations in life is travel,” says Bárbara. “Europe, South America, Australia and South East Asia are among the places I have visited.”

“I have been working for more than 25 years in the service industry. I believe I learnt most from my time at the Hostería Los Notros (Argentinian Patagonia), Hotel Art Barcelona (Ritz Carlton) and the Relais & Chateaux Huka Lodge in New Zealand. For me, in this wonderful part of the world where I now find myself, my first challenge is to do what I can to maximise the sustainability of Awasi Atacama.”

We wish Victoria all the success in the world with her growing family, and are very excited to have Bárbara as a new member of the team. She hopes to see you soon at our lodge in the world’s driest desert.
